Judgment in 'Boris and Bus Ads' Case
Judgment will be handed down by Mrs Justice Lang in the case of Core Issues Trust and Transport for London at 10am today (22 MAR) in Court 22 at the Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London WC2A 2LL.
The case involved Core Issues Trust, a non-profit Christian ministry, that was prohibited by the Mayor of London from running a bus advertising campaign with the slogan: “Not Gay! Ex Gay, Post Gay and Proud. Get over it!”
The adverts were intended as a call for acknowledgement of, and respect for, individuals who have
experienced same-sex attraction but who do not identify as "gay" but see themselves as "ex-gay" or post- gay".
The slogan was a response to a prior bus advertising campaign by homosexual activist group Stonewall. Its posters bore the slogan: “Some people are Gay. Get over it!” and were authorised by Mr Johnson, who is also Chair of Transport for London (TfL).
Core Issues Trust director Dr Mike Davidson, who is ex-homosexual, had entered into a contract with TfL to run the advertisements on 24 buses across London. Mr Johnson intervened to stop the advertisements just hours before they were due to become public, claiming they would cause “offence” to homosexuals and possibly result in violence against the Christian community.
Dr Davidson is available for interview.
