In a joint intervention with The Christian Legal Centre, Core Issues Trust yesterday provided this intervention to the OSCE in Warsaw, Poland:
(Speakers in a side-event included Andrea Williams, Barrister Paul Diamond and Mike Davidson who made the following points) – Evidence exists in the UK that the state advocates Gender Mainstreaming as the preferred educative philosophy now shaping the social attitudes of the very young with respect to gender identity. This is essentially conducted using the philosophy and ideology of Post-genderism or Pansexual Humanism. It is this philosophy that informs the UN sanctioned “Comprehensive Sexuality Education” (CSE) initiatives, whereby sexual pleasuring information is communicated to the young through state provided sex education. This differs from age-appropriate sex education, in which parental bodies are more likely to give support. Parental views concerning the content of CSE appear to be unimportant to the promoters of this approach. As such this initiative, manifesting in a variety of names, is a threat to both children’s rights, and parental rights.
For faith communities in the UK, this is intolerable since the values of CES undermine traditional values and the nurturing that parents provide. Such initiatives contribute to insecurity of the state because parents are disempowered to promote their own traditional values, and the state assumes a “we know better” approach. Conflicts between the state providers of such information and parents is the likely outcome. More fundamentally, such initiatives fail to demonstrate how the development of “conscience” and the right to dissent from this approach will be developed in young children. The state has a duty to ensure that the provision of sex education in its institutions is educative, and not indoctrinatory. Age-appropriateness and partnership with parents is essential.
The ideological basis of this philosophy remains alien to many parents of those being taught according to such values whose views are over-ridden and marginalized. What are the main tenets of Gender Mainstreaming as it promotes Pansexual Humanism and Post-genderism? Popular (Wikipedia) definitions are sufficient here:
“Pansexuality, or omnisexuality, is the sexual attraction, romantic love, or emotional attraction toward people regardless of their sex or gender identity. Pansexual people may refer to themselves as gender-blind, asserting that gender and sex are insignificant or irrelevant in determining whether they will be sexually attracted to others.”
“Postgenderism is a social, political and cultural movement whose adherents affirm the voluntary elimination of gender in the human species through the application of advanced biotechnology and assistive reproductive technologies.”
The OSCE is asked to examine closely the fundamental tenets of Comprehensive Sexuality Education and its foundational ideas of Pansexual Humanism and Post-genderism to protect itself from complicity with harmful, indoctrinatory attempts to sexualize children. To not do so is to risk a violation of the fundamental rights of children the OSCE seeks to protect.
